Summer heat produces dangerous consequences for the most vulnerable animals.

We recently lost two of our special needs animals, Bexar Bear (a cat) and Rupert (a dog). Bexar Bear lost his battle with Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) after a long and hard fight. Rupert suffered from what the doctors believe was either a ruptured tumor or heart failure from his heartworms. Both animals were given lots of love, hugs, and kisses by their wonderful fosters in their final weeks with us.

In addition to the high costs of their care, two more animals in our program - Cupcake (a dog) and Millie (a cat) - both had emergency vet visits that same weekend. Cupcake suffered a prolapsed rectum which required emergency surgery while Millie suffers from Mycoplasmosis which required an emergency blood transfusion in order to save her life. Both animals are now on the road to recovery. And, we rescued a beautiful Siamese mama cat with nine kittens only to discover they all have ringworm.

Cases like these only increase during the dangerously hot summer months, with vulnerable animals requiring rescue and skilled veterinary care. We humbly ask you to help us raise the funds we urgently need to save the lives of cats and dogs suffering on the scorching streets of San Antonio. Thank you for your amazing and continued support!

Lonely Hearts Club Updates

We now have eight animal members of our Lonely Hearts Club. Combined, they've been with us a total of 1,036 days! Jake has been with us the longest, at 303 days. Our Lonely Hearts Club human members donate every month to help us care for and cover the adoption fees for these animals until they find their forever families. We are SO grateful to our LHC members as we simply couldn't care for these animals on such a long term basis without their kind and generous donations.

Regal beauty Paisley is very people focused and loves sitting with you while you are reading, laying in her bed next to you while you work, or following you around the house just checking out what you are doing. She loves to carry her soft toys around and plays gently with them. She learned her name very quick and she is starting to figure out how to play fetch. She melts into whatever she is sleeping on - a lap or the couch.
