Rico is a resilient pup we recently saved from the San Antonio Animal Care Services euthanasia list, where he faced the heartbreaking possibility of euthanasia. While he came with many health challenges, our team knew Rico deserved a second chance at a happy, healthy life. As you can see, he has a mysterious head tilt, possibly from being hit by a car.
Rico underwent a thorough examination at one of our private partner vet clinics, revealing he has heartworms. Further tests are pending to explore if he may have a tick-borne illness. While the exact diagnosis is yet to be determined, Rico, a sweet five-year-old, medium-sized pinscher, still has a challenging journey ahead, but is showing immense progress.
He's opened up so much recently, even hugging people! While he's doing so much better, Rico's uncoordinated movements and difficulty walking straight raise concerns about his overall health, but we are dedicated to uncovering the root of his challenges and providing him the care he needs on his journey to getting well and finding a loving home.
